A resident of the Inland Northwest for 27 years, I worked as a Civil Engineering Technician before returning to Washington State University. Between semesters I worked for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, habitat typing State Forests in the Lewis River area and as part of a timber sales crew in Newport. Following graduation, I spent the summer of 1990 at Yellowstone National Park as a member of the helitack crew. I came to the Forest Service via the Moscow Forestry Science Lab and while working there I accepted the position of Superintendent of the Priest River Experimental Forest. I am responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Experimental Forest. In this capacity, I could be doing a variety of duties required to maintain residential buildings, weather stations, gaging dam, snow courses, and infrastructure to accommodate about one thousand person-days use each year. The position is unique and I do appreciate the variety of work (most of the time).
