R. WykoffResearch Forester Rocky Mountain Research Station 1221 South Main Street Moscow, ID 83843 Bill is a Research Forester and has been stationed at Moscow, Idaho since 1974. He studies development of trees and stands, focusing on the forests of northern Idaho, eastern Washington, and western Montana. He was instrumental in the development of the Prognosis Model, managing the coding and distribution of the program prior to the transfer of these responsibilities to the Forest Management Service Center. He contributed to the design of many of the component models and had primary responsibility for the diameter increment models and for models that predict the development of regeneration. Current studies are focused on development of young ponderosa pine stands, including changes in growth, physiological performance, and light environments that relate to tree size and spacing.
