Long Description of Figure 3:
Map of the United States showing commercial forest regions and LTSP (Long-term Soil Productivity) installations; commercial forest regions are found to cover most of the eastern and south-eastern US (except for the uppermost parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, 75% of Iowa, the upper corner of Missouri -- commercial forests of the east extend a little bit into Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and barely into Nebraska's bottom right corner), most of Michigan, over half of Wisconson, about a quarter of upper Minnesota, all of Washington, and parts of Idaho, Montana, Oregon, California, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Arizona and New Mexico; LTSP sites that are currently installed or undergoing installation: 1 in northern Idaho, 4 in California, 1 in northern Minnesota, 3 in Louisiana, and 2 in North Carolina; Proposed LTSP sites: 1 in central Idaho, 2 in northern Minnesota, 1 in northern Wisconsin, 1 in Maine, 3 in Texas, 3 in Mississippi, and 2 in Florida.
