Map of western US showing climatic regions: REGION I (core maritime) = northeastern corner of Washington, upper panhandle of Idaho and northwestern corner of Montana; REGION II (inland maritime) = all of Washington east of the Cascade mountains minus the northeastern corner, all of Oregon east of the Cascade mountains minus the southeastern corner, a strip of northeastern California, central Idaho and the middle part in the western side of Montana; REGION III (northern continental) = southwestern corner of Oregon, most of southern Idaho except for a small part in the southeastern corner, the northwestern corner of Nevada, all of Montana east of the Rocky mountains and all of Wyoming; REGION IV (southern continental) = the rest of Nevada, a small part of southeastern Idaho, most of Utah, southwestern Colorado, the bottom half of California east of the Cascade mountains, Arizona and New Mexico
