MDI Test Data Analysis Spreadsheet

MDI Test Data Analysis Spreadsheet version 1.2 (2008.01.17 posted 2008.06.23)

You can use the MDI Test Data Analysis Spreadsheet to process post-fire mini-disk infiltrometer measurements. The spreadsheet is designed to analyze data from the MDI test procedure and post-fire sampling method described in New Procedure for Sampling Infiltration to Assess Post-fire Soil Water Repellency (RMRS-RN-32). The percent of samples in each post-fire soil water repellency class (strong, weak, and none) is calculated for each hillslope sampled.

The MDI test and post-fire assessment sampling method was developed for use by BAER/ESR assessment teams. Use of this method provides a practical evaluation of burned soil water repellency and reduced infiltration. Sample results can be applied to other similar burned areas with increasing degrees of confidence by increasing the number of sampled hillslopes.
