Research Forester Rocky Mountain Research Station 1221 South Main Street Moscow, ID 83843 I am member of the Research Work Unit FS-RMRS-4552 (microbial effects on regulating environmental variability on western forests) and FS-RMRS-4155 (ecological processes and forest dynamics at the plant, stand, ecosystem, and landscape levels). The research problem areas I concentrate on include the 1) role of fire suppression on ecosystem woody fuel accumulation, and surface fuel influence on fire severity and carbon sequestration, 2) influence of fuel reduction treatments on burn severity, 3) wood decomposition research within a variety of forest and geologies within the Interior West, including burned and unburned forests and 4) disturbance ecology. In addition, I work on linking site-specific vegetation responses to landscapes, multiple spatial scale analysis, and ecosystem restoration in both moist and dry forests.
