Landscape Characteristics:

Block faulted mountains that formed in a variety of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. Some higher elevations were glaciated. Elevations range from 6900 to 8500 feet. Drainage density is moderate to high.

Climate:

Mean annual precipitation ranges from 14 to 20 inches, about 50 percent falling as snow. The soil temperature and moisture regimes are cryic and typic ustic.
