Glacial outwash plains with some till plains and moraines. Elevations range from 1000 to 1700 feet. Drainage density is low. Glacial potholes are common.
Mean annual precipitation ranges from 15 to 20 inches, about 40 percent falling as snow. The soil temperature and moisture regimes are frigid and udic.
