Microbial Processes > Decomposition Processes > Forest Locations: California USA

Two wood stake study sites were established in April 2001 on the Tahoe National Forest. These sites are part of the LTSP study on high-productivity soils in this region (Sierra mixed conifer type). The experimental design and sampling protocols are similar to the Council, ID study site, except no Douglas-fir stakes were installed. A total of 1000 stakes (30 cm long) were installed in the mineral soil, and 2200 stakes (15 cm long) placed in or on top of the litter layer.
